They even cover our Queen!

Can you see the differences between the above two pictures of Queen Rania?
The same picture has been taken while she was receiving the david rockefeller prize in New York. The first one is posted on Slate Magazine website on the page of the Queen's diary while the other one is posted at our government news agency petra.
Petra didn't like the Queen with a sleevless shirt, so they covered her arms with some photoshops touches! I am glad they didn't cover her head!
They are busted with their covering tendencies! I wonder, what else do they cover?

Hahaha! I remember they used to do that in my school after the parent's dinner, they would cover up the girls in the pictures using photo shop.

that's funny !
If I were queen Rania ( hehe , I know :P) I would sue them coz they are ruining her fashion !

This is almost funny. I think we could probably find some sort of religious basis to justify not covering up such a sexy and beautiful woman as Queen Rania.

It probably wasn't solely Petra's decision.

I have lived in this country for over 22 years, and I still find things that amaze me every once in a while...

You never know what they are going to do next! And who said Jordan is not a fun country?! It is a very interesting and funny culture when you look at the details.

OMG!
an agency with a photographer/designer whatsoever that leaves an EDITED shot of a royalty this bright, low quality, and ruined colours are definitly out of the game of morals since they failed to visually impress :) no ?

akh.... my sweet little children, haven't u ever heard of media advisors, whose decision do you think it was to cover up that picture... sigh....

I need to know this:who told US media that Rania speaks for Muslim women of the world?
Rania wields an important and destructive political role,as she wants to build a fortune in at least 2ways:1)she registers state lands in the king's name,&then sells them at high prices and pockets the money;2)she has entered into business with Baha' Hariri in Jordan(sources say the Hariris paid Rania anywhere between $75-400 million. This about a kingdom that was created by the fountain pen of Churchill

Perhaps media advisors et al are better off thinking/working along the lines of vision and strategy instead of fumbling with panic stricken tactics which do nothing but pull everyone into that downward spiral where no one wins.

I don't know what covering just that bit does... really.

You know, what amuses me with this post and many of the comments is how the Jordanian media abd culture are being faulted. They shouldn't. Any culture that is clear about what is acceptable and not acceptable cannot be blamed for how people choose to follow it or not follow it.

What must be blamed here is the double standard. I am sorry to say that those who suggest that Jordan's media just singlehandedly decided to cover Jordan's Queen's arms are simpletons.

Also, to blame cultural retardation for this is also ignorant. Different peoples have different values, and they want their leaderships to represent their respective values. That is the case in just about every society, beginning with the U.S. and ending with Saudi Arabia. Jordanians obviously believe that there are limitations to how much of a woman's body is revealed (or a man's body... I'm pretty sure people would find pictures of the King in a sleeveless t-shirt culturally unacceptable, if not simply weird).

This airbrushing of sleeves and such is proof that a disconnect exists between the Jordanian people and its elite. And even more disturbing is that the elite recognizes that that disconnect exists but choose to bridge it in artificial, deceptive ways.

Seems the said media advisor that okayed this was asked to resign and did during the Eid holiday.

I believe there are several levels of "checks and controls" in the flow of information in Jordan. Even members of the Royal family maybe subject to such controls if an assumption is made that disclosure of the image can trigger some megative reactions from the masses! It has been done before and I guess it is of no actual harm.

God knows what else they managed to do.

They didn't want the Jordanians to get angery the way their Queen dresses up.

I suppose the people running the show in Jordan are in denial that the most parasitic aspects of western culture are practically widespread in the Middle East let alone Jordan.
A weak people slavishly embracing parasitic customs of the master!
